The Australian healthcare market, with estimated revenues of over AUD200 billion in 2023, is one of the country's largest social and economic contributors. The country’s spending on healthcare is approximately 10% of GDP, similar to the UK but less than the U.S. (17%). It has a workforce of over 210,000 people which comprises over 15% of the total workforce in the country. It also ranks third in terms of average relative healthcare productivity, globally, according to a report by The Productivity Commission. The state and territory governments fund the Australian healthcare system, along with non-government institutions such as private insurers and individuals.

This report is your guide to understanding how investment priorities and transformation plans are adapting to new challenges and opportunities.
